I am writing this post retrospectively on January 2, 2026. We made a spur-of-the-moment plan to see the New Year's Eve fireworks at Ocean City, MD, by the beach. We had some credits left in our Expedia account, which we used to book a one-night hotel room right on the beach, very close to the fireworks venue. It was a freezing day for us, but all four of us managed to bundle up and arrived on time to see the fireworks. Besides the New Year's Eve fireworks, it was also the concluding event of Ocean City's 150th anniversary.
